Essie Luxeffects Holiday 2011 Collection Swatches

I LOOOOOOVE this collection. SOOOOOO much. OK enough smoosin, here are the swatches of the 5 nail polishes in the collection. I swatched over black because it was a good basic colour so you can see the details in the colours. I used OPI Black Onyx as the base (its a plain black creme). You can see my other posts on this collection here.

OPI - Divine Swine (Muppet Collection Holiday 2011)

Can I just say, this collection is so fun! This is Divine Swine from OPIs Muppet Collection. It's a totally gorgeous purplish/pinkish glitter with medium sized silver hexagon glitter. Application was easy, I used two coats but as you can see around the edges it could have used a little extra. It, like all glitters, had a grit feeling, so I used Seche Vite top coat. Overall, I loooove it!

Essie - A Cut Above (Luxeffects Collection Holiday 2011)

Another pretty polish from the Luxeffects collection. This is A Cut Above. A clear polish with muti size pink sparkles. Totally gorgeous. It does remind me of a mini Sally's Girl that I can't seem to find right now.  Today I used to over OPI Black Onyx. I used one coat of A Cut Above just so the different sized of glitter can show. I really really like this one. I think it's pretty, of course I think anything thats pink is pretty hahaha.

Essie Shine of the Times compared to Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Nubar 2010

I love my flakies... so how did these three stack up?

Essie - Shine of the Times (Luxeffects Collection Holiday 2011)

Really? How freakin' gorgeous! I love this collection! If you'd like to see the press release click here, which also shows the other 4 colours. This is the ever so hyped about Shine of the Times, a FLAKIE!!! Props to Essie for changing it up a bit and they totally came out with a winner in my opinion. I used to over OPI Black Onyx, which is a simple black creme. I used one coat of Shine of the Times, I used the brush to work the flakies around to my liking. Totally stunning. Flakies come in many colours but this seems to be the one used most, they are a orange/green/yellowish colour. I've compared it to Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Nubar 2010, and I'll link that post here when it's up. I think this is a must have. I purchased mine at NailPolishCanada.com for $9.75 CAD. They were the first place I've seen get them in stock. They have great customer service and free shipping on orders over $29 ($50 to the states). I'm not sure when these will be available in stores.

SpaRitual Twinkle 4-Piece Gift Set (Holiday 2011)

This is the Twinkle Gift Set for SpaRitual's Twinkle Collection. It comes with 4 minis, the collection it self has 6 colours. The packaging is to die for! It comes in a gold sparkled covered box with a little ribbon to close it. The set contained Solstice, Illumination, Break of Dawn, and Shooting Star. They are .5 fl oz each and the set was about $20 CAD. I think this would be a very nice Holiday Gift, that isn't expensive plus is just has the most gorgeous packaging already.

OPI - Gone Gonzo! (Muppet Collection Holiday 2011)

Gone Gonzo! came out with the limited edition OPI Muppets Collection for the Holiday season. I've been loving this whole collection, to read more on the collection click here. Gone Gonzo! is a clear base with sky blue smaller glitter and silver larger hexagonal glitter. Totally pretty.

I used two coats plus coat of INM Out the Door top coat.  Of course it was a pain to remove, but totally worth it! I've also done a comparison to the similar polish Revlon Blue Mosaic, if you want to see that, click here. OPI retails for $9.50 CAD and up in Canada and a little less in the states. It can be found in select salons, e-tailers, and London Drugs here in Canada.

The (snow)men in my life...

OK how adorable are these? I always fall victim to cute packaging when it comes to nail polish. And at $1.99 US I couldn't help but get a few. Actually a few was all I could find! Two weekends ago I was on a major hunt for Loreal's Owl's Night nail polish. I think I tried four Rite-Aids (while I was in the states) before I found Owl's Night, during my adventure I only found these two snowmen. All the displays were empty! I really wanted the red and green sparkle one, but no luck, oh well. So these don't have names, the do say they are from Red Cross Beauty.

SNEAK PEAK: OPI Best of the Best Limited Edition Minis Set (Holiday 2011)

Ahhh I love this. This girl is always a sucker for minis. I'm going to pass on this one cause I have most of them.. where was this a few years ago?! The girl at the beauty supply store let me take a look at these, I don't know when they will actually be on sale. It has 10 minis (1/8 fl/oz each), all of their classic (must have in my mind) colours. This will make an excellent Christmas present!

Lise Watier Festive Collection - The Nail Lacquers (Holiday 2011)

A seriously gorgeous press release landed in my inbox a few days ago. I can't even tell you how pretty this entire collection is, you can see pictures of the display here. I also showed you the actual bottle pictures of the two polishes from the collection in that post too. I picked up Festive Chic, and can't wait to try it. Click the picture below to read more about the two new polishes from Lise Watier Festive Collection. I believe the model is the above picture is wearing Festive Chic. These are available now at London Drugs, Sears, and The Bay.

Color Club Beyond The Mistletoe Collection (Holiday 2011)

Color Club has a new Holiday collection, it's called Beyond The Mistletoe. It's six new colours, all beautiful sparkles with scattered holographic glitter. I bought this collection as a pack, if you can buy Color Club this way, I highly suggest it. It works out to be a lot cheaper, rather then buying them individually. Another great thing is, you discover colours you might have otherwise skipped. I did plan on just buying two of these and they actually turned out to be my least favourite of the pack! The pack actually came with a Club Clear Topcoat too.

The polishes are full .5 oz size. On the wheel I used two coats of each colour plus two coats of Club Clear Topcoat. I found one still left it a little bumpy. My favourite of the six was Beyond The Mistletoe, which had the most holographic glitter. I thought my favourite would be Candy Cane, but it was a little less then stellar. My pack was $7.99 US (how awesome is that?!) at Ross in Bellingham. These are also available at Winners here in Canada. Winners can be a little hit and miss with what each store gets, but they are $13.99 CAD each.

The drawbacks of buying the Color Club packs are: the caps don't feel as nice (not a deal breaker) and the bottles aren't labeled. I suggest keeping the pack and beside each name on the pack dab a little polish, that way you can reference back to the pack for the name even if the bottles get mixed up.

Check the swatches out below and click on the pictures to see the swatches up close, believe me they look so much better up close!

OPI - Warm & Fozzie (Muppet Collection Holiday 2011)

I love this collection so so much. Warm & Fozzie was literally the first polish I grabbed off the display. I didn't know what it was but I had to have it. I wish my nails where a little bit longer!!! I feel like they have been break a lot lately. Anyways...

Warm & Fozzie is from OPI Muppets Collection for the Holidays, click here to see other polishes from this collection. It's a foil type finish bronze and I think it has some olive tones in it. It's totally gorgeous, especially for Fall! I used two coats and in the picture I'm not wearing a top coat. I eventually put a coat of Seche Vite on top and it really made it shine so pretty. This is such a perfect colour for Fozzie!

This collection is just starting to pop up in salons right now, London Drugs has them in stock, and of course you can buy through e-tailers. They retail for $9 CAD, a little less in the states. These are limited edition colours, so if you see something from the collection you like, buy while you can!

Color Club Scent-Suous Scented Collection (Holiday 2011)

COLOR CLUB SCENT-SUOUS COLLECTION

Sally's Beauty Supply recently got these Color Club Scent-Suous Collection displays (link to picture of the displays)! Are they going to start carrying the full range of Color Club now? I sure hope so! I might be wrong but I think another blog had said that these were Sally's Beauty Supply exclusive colours. The collection had 6 colours I opted out of non-chunky sparkle ones. The names of the other colours that I skipped were Santa's Cinnamon (red sparkle, think China Glaze Ruby Pumps, cinnamon scented), Kiss Me Mistletoe (foiled light green, pine tree scented), and Gingerbread Man (light gold foil, gingerbread scented). I would have bought all of them but I seriously have a thing against all of thoughs scents. I bought mine in the states at a Sally's and they were $4.99 US each /.5 oz.

SPOTTED: Vancouver Nail Polish Shopping - Halloween Weekend

Here are some of the newest polishes that I've spotted around Vancouver today. Lots of holiday displays have started to appear! I'm so excited for the Holiday!

This Revlon display was found at London Drugs. It's Revlon's Spice It Up Collection for the Holidays. More twirly displays from revlon. My picks from this collection are Mistletoe and Glitz and Glam. These were $6.49 CAD each/15mL at London Drugs.

REVLON SPICE IT UP COLLECTION
FOR HOLIDAY 2011

This display was also at London Drugs. It's called Festive and it's Lise Watier Holiday collection for this year. It has two polishes, Festive Chic and Fairy Taupe. They also have a light inside the cap, to help "illuminate" as you paint. Kinda cool, probably won't help all that much, but still neat. My pick was Festive Chic. From what the cosmetic lady at London Drugs said, most stores only received two of each polish, I have no idea how true that is though. Lise Watier is also sold at The Bay and Sears, Sears ships anywhere in Canada. At London Drugs they were $12 CAD each/12 mL.

LISE WATIER FESTIVE HOLIDAY COLLECTION

FESTIVE CHIC & FAIRY TAUPE
CAP WITH A LIGHT!

This isn't a display but it sure should be cause I've been dying to see these!!! This is the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Designer Collection for Fall totally hidden! At first glance I thought these were just some sorta overflow or discontinued polishes, but nope it's the entire collection! I go to this particular London Drugs all the time cause it's close to work and I've never seen these before. So if you looking for any of these watch out for them, they could just be coming out here. My picks where Oxide a Tracy Reece colour and Green Tea also a Tracy Reece Colour. So happy to have found these! This is from a London Drugs on Hastings if that helps anyone. They were $7.99 CAD each.

SALLY HANSEN DESIGNER COLLECTION
FALL 2011

While I was in Pacific Center I stopped by Juicy Couture and noticed they had all of the Deborah Lippmann Holiday set out! They were about $53 - $57 CAD each. I'm loooving the packaging cause I looove anything pink! Totally beautiful.

JUICY COUTURE DEBORAH LIPPMANN
2011 HOLIDAY COLLECTION

The only new polish type item at Shoppers Drug Mart this week was this really nice Quo by Orly 18 piece mini collection. This was $39 CAD. It is Orly's regular collections repackaged for Quo. It has Cosmic FX, Mineral FX, Foil FX, and Oui from the Holiday Soiree Collection minis from what I can tell. I think this is an awesome set! Too bad I own all the colours I like in it otherwise this would be mine.

Essie Luxeffects Holiday 2011 Collection

This is by far the Holiday collection I'm most excited for! The Luxeffects from Essie is due out in December. It's 5 sparkly, glittery, flakie gorgeous polishes.
Their names are: (from left to right)

- As Cold as it Gets
- Set in Stone
- Pure Pearlfection

Shine of the times has been the polish getting lots of hype, its a flakie! Everyone that missed out on Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure last year, I'm sure will get their flakie fix. I know I can't wait to swatch these!

MAC Glitter and Ice Collection Nail Lacquers (Holiday 2011)

These are the nail polishes for MAC Holiday Glitter and Ice Collection. I like this collection a little more then last years collection. These are on sale starting today at www.maccosmetics.ca. The nail polishes have been getting a lot of talk. Especially the middle one pictured above, it's called Unconditionally Fabulous and its a suppose to be a close match to Deborah Lippmann Stairway to Heaven or China Glaze Snow Globe. All happen to me Limited Edition Holiday colours.

Top: Festive Finery (dirty midtone greyed violet)
Middle: Unconditionally Fabulous (super sparkly white)
Bottom: Get Noticed! (True bright red)

These are $19 CAD or $16 US / 10mL. I don't find any of these especially unique or worth the price tag. I've never really thought MAC's polishes were worth the price tag, and they usually let me down once I get them home. On the other hand I'm excited to see the MAC Garth Pugh Collection, I especially can't wait to see some swatches!

THANKS FOR DROPPING IN!

Stila is doing nail polish?

For the holiday season Stila is putting out two sets of nail polish. I believe they use to sell nail polish way way back, so I guess this is there chance to get back in to it. What cosmetic company that already has made a name for themselves wouldn't capitalize on the ever expanding nail polish market right?

So the set came up on the Stila website www.stilacosmetics.com. They are $24 US each and from what I can tell the website doesn't offer shipping to Canada. So hopefully some of the makeup stores here in Canada get them in stock.

The top set is named Delicate and the bottle named Daring. They are minis at .25 fl oz each.

Delicate has these polishes:
  • Icicle - clear base with rainbow multi-color glitter
  • Stardust - clear base with pink and purple glitter
  • Chandelier - clear base with deep purple & rainbow multi-color glitter
  • Kitten - nude base with gold and silver pearl
Daring has these polishes:

  • Confetti - clear base with green, red and gold glitter
  • Firecracker - clear base with ruby red sparkle
  • Disco Ball - clear base with purple and teal glitter
  • City Lights - gold with rainbow multi-color glitter
I think these are pretty, should have liked to see them put a few cremes in there, so a few more unique colours. But we have another brand to choose polish from :)

Butter London Holiday 2011 Collection

These just came up on the Butter London Canada site (www.butterlondon.ca). They came up on the Canadian site a bit later then the regular Butter London site, but they are here! Here is what the site says about the collection:

Introducing the Holiday 2011 Collection! Our newest collection was created to charm and delight. This holiday season Founding Creative Director Nonie Creme wanted to revisit the feeling of excitement and awe we felt as children at this time of year. The bespoke colours of our Holiday 2011 Collection include The Black Night, Tart With A Heart and Fairy Lights.

From left to right there is:

-Tart With A Heart (Who says pink glitter can’t be girly AND sexy?! This pale pink parade of glitter carries a dash of grey to tone down the sugar and ramp up the spice.) LIMITED EDITION. $17 CAD

-The Black Night (A dark dazzler from butter LONDON, this glitter fusion contains black, pink, blue, and silver suspended in a black base.) LIMITED EDITION. $17 CAD

-Fairy Lights (Fairy Lights are what the English call small white Christmas tree lights. Be a beacon to bad boys and the life of the party in dazzling “liquid metal” rose pink.) Does not specify as limited edition on website. $17 CAD

These can also be bought in a gift pack together for $44 CAD. You can also get free shipping on the Canadian website if you spend over $75. When I just tried to buy the gift pack, shipping to be here in Vancouver came out to $9.95. So I think I'll be waiting 'til they come in stores, since my school is just over a block away from Holts, why waste that much on shipping is what I'm figuring. I haven't seen these out yet in stores. I also couldn't find a directory on the website to tell me stores that carry their products. I do know that Holts carries them and so does Nordstroms if you shop in America.

Jessica Cosmetics - Shine On Collection (Holiday 2011)

I was just stalking some brand sites when I came across these. Totally cute bottles! It's a set for the holidays and it's $19.90 US. The website jessicacosmetics.com, say this about the holiday pack:

‘Tis the season to shimmer in pure colour perfection! Light up the night and celebrate the season with new festive colours by JESSICA that will have you shining brighter than a star. The SHINE ON Collection is a trio designed to bring colour and life to your lighthearted nights with spirited sparkles. Lucky Star is an irresistible gold glitter that adds a jewled accent to any look. For the girl who longs for a pair of ruby slippers to dance the night away, Starry Night, a splended sparkled red. Finally Superstar is a sassy silver glitter that twinkles like the moonlight! SHINE ON has everything you need to beam brighter than a ray of light!

The names of these are:
941 Starry Night
942 Lucky Star
943 Superstar

I'm not familiar with Jessica, I've only seen these sold sometimes at Winners. Shipping to me in Canada was an extra $12. So I'm not sure if it's worth just buying these alone, I might wait to see if there are any other things I want to order from them. On Body and Soul Blog she had a wicked promo pick for the Peacock Queen Collection that Jessica is coming out with, so maybe I'll wait for that to be available. It looks like an amazing collection, possible dupes for Chanel Peridot, Graphite, and Quartz!
